Wilbarger Brushing Protocol:
The Wilbarger Protocol is also referred as ‘brushing therapy.’At Performance Pediatrics, we often implement techniques of the brushing protocol into you home exercise programs and treatment sessions depending not he concerns presented. This program involves multiple sensory brushes which are utilized throughout the day to aid in improving tactile defensiveness (extremely sensitive to touch), avoid messy/tactile play, avoid specific clothing and textures. Some of the benefits may include improved ability to transition between daily activities, improved attention span, a decreased fear or discomfort of being touched, enhanced coordination, decreased anxiety, and better self-regulation
Please be sure to ask your therapist about purchasing weighted blankets, listening CDs, Interactive Metronome program, thera-Band, and any of the sensori-motor equipment that will facilitate your child’s treatment and well being.
